Junk Removal Cost in New Bedford: 2026 Pricing Guide
Wondering what junk removal actually costs in New Bedford? Pricing depends on how much space your junk takes up, how heavy it is, and whether anything needs special recycling or disposal — not just a flat number pulled out of thin air. Below, you’ll find real pricing by job size and item type, what determines your final quote, and how our rates compare to other New Bedford haulers.
How Much Does Junk Removal Cost in New Bedford?
Junk removal in New Bedford has an $80 minimum service charge. Small household cleanouts typically run $150–$350, while larger garage or basement cleanouts are usually around $450–$750. Estate and whole-property cleanouts are priced with a custom on-site quote.
The final price depends on how much space your junk takes up, how heavy it is, where it is located, and whether anything needs special recycling or disposal.

What Does the $80 Minimum Service Charge Actually Mean?
This is worth clearing up first because the $80 minimum is not the price of a specific item. It is simply the minimum amount for sending our crew and truck to your property for a standalone pickup.
Imagine you only have one small item to remove. The lifting itself may take only a few minutes, but the job still involves travel time, a crew, the truck, fuel, loading, hauling, and proper disposal or recycling afterward. That is what the minimum helps cover. But here’s the important part:
We do not add an $80 minimum charge to every item in a normal pickup.
If you already have a larger job booked and add a smaller item, that item can be priced as part of the existing load using its applicable add-on rate. For example, certain smaller electronics or appliances may have an add-on price below $80 when they are collected with another job. So the easiest way to think about it is:
$80 is our minimum service visit, not an $80 price tag on every item.
Why Do Junk Removal Prices Vary So Much?
Most people simply want to know:
“How much is this going to cost me?”
Fair question. The reason junk removal prices can vary is that two jobs with the same number of items may require completely different amounts of work. A sofa sitting beside a garage door is a pretty simple pickup.
Put that same sofa on the third floor, behind a narrow staircase with a tight turn, and suddenly the job involves more time, more carrying, and more care. The same thing happens with weight. A pile of household junk may fill a large part of the truck without being especially heavy. A much smaller pile of concrete or tile can weigh far more and cost more to transport and dispose of.
That is why we look at the whole job, not just how many things you point to.
What Determines Junk Removal Cost?
In most cases, five things have the biggest effect on your final price.
1
How Much Truck Space Does the Junk Use?
Volume is usually the starting point. The more truck space your junk occupies, the larger the job becomes. A small cleanout may use only part of the truck, while a garage or basement can take half a truck or more. One thing people often underestimate is how bulky loose junk can be. A room may not look especially full until everything is carried out and loaded together. What matters most is how much usable truck space the finished load takes up.
2
How Heavy Is the Material?
Volume and weight are not the same thing. This matters especially with renovation debris. Concrete, brick, dirt, tile, masonry, and similar dense material can become extremely heavy long before the truck is full. Because of that, construction debris is priced using a combination of truck space and material weight.
Think about it this way: Half a truck of household furniture and half a truck of broken concrete may occupy similar space, but they are completely different hauling jobs. That extra weight affects transportation, legal truck-load limits, and disposal costs.
3
How Easy Is the Junk to Reach?
Access can make a bigger difference than people expect. If everything is already near the driveway or garage door, loading is usually straightforward. Now move that same material upstairs, into a basement, through a narrow attic opening, or more than 100 feet from the truck.
The job changes. Stairs, tight spaces, and long carries may require more labor and time. If an access charge applies, it should be explained during the estimate rather than appearing as a surprise after the work starts. This is why photos of where the junk is located can be just as helpful as photos of the junk itself.
4
What Type of Item Are We Removing?
Some items need more than normal hauling. Mattresses, refrigerant-containing appliances, certain electronics, and other regulated materials may require separate recycling or processing. For example, a refrigerator may have a $35 Freon handling surcharge, while a mattress may carry a $35–$50 recycling fee.
Not sure what can go with a regular pickup? Our What We Take & Don’t Take guide explains what we can remove, what we cannot accept, and which materials may need special handling. The goal is simple: you should know about these differences before the job begins.
5
What Happens to the Junk After Pickup?
The work does not end when the truck leaves your driveway. Depending on the condition and material, something may be donated, recycled, processed separately, or sent through the appropriate final disposal route.
Our process is:
Donate First → Recycle Second → Dispose Last.
Normal quoted service includes the core labor, loading, hauling, transportation, sorting, standard disposal, and basic sweep-up after removal. Specialty items or unusual job conditions are identified separately when they apply. If you want to see exactly how those materials are handled after pickup, our Donation & Recycling Process explains the full process.
The Simple Answer
If you want a good estimate, you do not need to know every pricing rule. Just tell us:
How much is there? How heavy is it? Where is it located? What kind of material is it? And does anything need special handling?
Give us those details with a few photos, and we can usually give you a much more useful starting range than a generic advertised price.
Junk Removal Prices by Job Size
Most people do not know exactly how many cubic yards of junk they have — and honestly, they should not need to. It is usually easier to think about the type and size of the cleanup. Here is a practical starting point for junk removal prices in New Bedford:
| Job Size | Typical Price |
|---|---|
| Minimum standalone service | $80 minimum |
| Small household cleanout | $150–$350 |
| Garage/basement cleanout | $450–$750 |
| Standard full truckload | $495–$550 |
| Estate / whole-property cleanout | Custom on-site quote |
| Construction debris | Volume + weight-based pricing |
These are starting ranges, not promises that every job will land at the same number.
What Does a Small Cleanout Usually Cost?
A small household cleanout generally falls around $150–$350 and may represent roughly a few bulky items or about a quarter of the truck, depending on how the load packs. For many people, this is the range that covers the kind of cleanup where you are finally clearing one room, getting rid of several unwanted pieces, or dealing with a small move-out pile. The important thing is that we price the actual load and access — not simply count objects.
What Does a Garage or Basement Cleanout Cost?
Garage and basement cleanouts typically run around $450–$750. Why is the range wider? Because a half-filled garage with easy driveway access is very different from a packed basement where everything has to come upstairs before it reaches the truck. Volume matters, but so do weight and access. That is why larger cleanouts are one of the situations where a free on-site estimate can be more useful than trying to guess from a few numbers online.
How Much Is a Full Truckload?
Our standard full-truckload pricing is generally $495–$550. The truck holds about 16 cubic yards, but the final total can still be affected by unusually heavy material, specialty processing, or difficult access. This also explains why a difficult garage or basement job can sometimes cost more than the basic full-truck volume range. You are not only paying for space. You are paying for what is in that space and what it takes to remove it.
Junk Removal Prices by Common Item
Sometimes you are not clearing a whole room. You just want to know:
“What would it cost to get this one thing out of here?”
Here are some of the common item ranges in our current pricing data.
| Item | Typical Price |
|---|---|
| Sofa | $85–$120 |
| Refrigerator | $85–$135 + $35 Freon fee |
| Mattress | $85–$120 + $35–$50 recycling fee |
| Washer | $80–$110 |
| Dryer | $80–$110 |
| Stove / range | $75–$100 |
| Dishwasher | $60–$85 |
| Standard flat-screen TV | $60–$85 |
| Large / oversized TV | $85–$110 |
| CRT / old tube TV | $75–$95 base range |
One Important Rule About Prices Below $80
If you see an item price such as $60–$85 for a TV or $60–$85 for a dishwasher, that does not mean we send a crew and truck out for a $60 standalone job. Our minimum standalone service charge is still $80. So, for example, a dishwasher priced at $60 as part of an existing larger pickup can stay at that applicable add-on price.
But if the dishwasher is the only thing you want us to come out for, the $80 service minimum applies. That rule keeps the pricing fair without pretending the truck, crew, travel time, and hauling cost disappear just because the item itself is small.
Why Do Some Items Have Extra Fees?
This is one of those places where a cheap-looking quote can become confusing if nobody explains the reason. Some fees exist because the material requires different processing after pickup. They are not simply random add-ons.
Freon Appliances — $35
Refrigerators, freezers, and other refrigerant-containing appliances require special processing before the metal can move through the normal recycling stream. That is why applicable units carry a $35 Freon handling surcharge. For example, if refrigerator removal is quoted at $85–$135, the $35 Freon charge is added where applicable.
Mattress Recycling — $35–$50 Per Unit
Massachusetts banned mattresses and box springs from normal disposal beginning November 1, 2022, which means eligible units generally need to be routed through recycling rather than ordinary disposal. That is why mattress removal includes a separate $35–$50 recycling fee per unit. The extra cost is tied to the recycling process, not simply the lifting.
Tires — $8–$15 Per Tire
Tires also require their own handling route. Tires currently carry an $8–$15 surcharge per tire when applicable. Again, that is separate from the $80 minimum service rule. The tire fee is a processing surcharge. The $80 minimum is the minimum total required for sending the crew and truck out for a standalone service visit.
Heavy Debris
This is where weight matters more than truck space. Dense material can carry an additional $50–$100 flat load surcharge, or approximately $200 per ton on a prorated basis when the applicable weight threshold is exceeded. The best example is construction debris. A pile of broken tile or concrete may look smaller than a pile of household furniture, but it can weigh dramatically more. That extra weight affects hauling limits and disposal costs.
Mixed or Contaminated Loads
Sometimes recyclable or construction material arrives mixed with ordinary trash and needs additional separation. Our pricing framework allows $50–$75 mixed-debris surcharge where extra sorting is required. A contaminated recycling load may carry a $100–$150 handling surcharge if it can no longer be processed as a clean recyclable stream. The practical takeaway is simple: If you tell us what is in the load before we arrive, it is much easier to give you an accurate quote.
What About Stairs or Difficult Access?
Normal access is part of normal service. But unusually difficult conditions can add labor. The current pricing framework identifies examples such as:
| Difficult Access | Possible Additional Charge |
|---|---|
| 2nd floor or higher without elevator | $35–$55 |
| Attic/narrow crawl-space access | $25–$40 |
| Long carry of 100+ feet | $20–$35 |
Final access pricing depends on the actual removal path and should be confirmed during the estimate. Nobody wants to hear about an access fee after half the truck has already been loaded. That is why we would rather know about the stairs, narrow hallway, or long walk before the job starts.
What Is Included in Our Junk Removal Price?
This is where the comparison with a basic hauling quote matters. Our standard quoted service includes the core work required to actually get the junk out of your property:
- ✓ Professional labor
- ✓ Loading and heavy lifting
- ✓ Truck transportation
- ✓ Hauling
- ✓ On-site sorting
- ✓ Donation or recycling routing where applicable
- ✓ Standard disposal
- ✓ Basic sweep-up after removal
These core services are included in standard quoted pricing. In other words, you are not renting our truck and then loading it yourself. We do the carrying. We do the loading. We do the hauling. And when practical, we sort during loading rather than treating everything as one mixed pile.
What Does “No Hidden Fees” Mean?
It does not mean that a mattress recycling charge, Freon fee, or unusually difficult access magically disappears. Those are real job costs. What it means is that if a specialty or access charge applies, we want it identified before the work begins rather than quietly appearing at the end of the job. That is the difference between transparent pricing and simply advertising the lowest number possible. For larger or complicated jobs, we can inspect the load and access first and provide a final flat quote. There is no estimate fee and no obligation to proceed if you decide the price does not work for you.
How Does Junk Removal Compare With Other Options?
The cheapest-looking option is not always the cheapest way to finish the job. A dumpster can make sense when debris will keep building up over several days, especially during a renovation. Professional junk removal usually makes more sense when the junk is already there, and you want the loading, hauling, and disposal handled in one visit.
If you are deciding between those two options, see our Junk Removal vs Dumpster Rental in New Bedford guide for a full cost and convenience comparison. DIY can also save money on a small, easy load if you already have a truck and someone to help. Once you need a rental vehicle, several disposal trips, or heavy lifting, the comparison changes. Our DIY vs Professional Junk Removal guide breaks down the real cost in money, time, and effort.
How Do Our Prices Compare With Other Junk Removal Companies?
Our goal is not to advertise the lowest number and then build the price back up with surprises. We price toward the more affordable side of the market while keeping labor, hauling, truck transportation, and standard disposal inside the quoted service. Current market research shows:
| Job Size | Our Pricing | General Market Range | Large / National Brands |
|---|---|---|---|
| Minimum/small standalone job | $80 minimum service charge | $85–$140 | $95–$175 |
| Small / roughly ¼-truck job | $150–$350* | $140–$220 | $195–$295 |
| Full truckload | $495–$550* | $650–$870 | $750–$950+ |
*Final price can change when weight, difficult access, or specialty processing is involved. This pricing data places us toward the lower end of many regional and national benchmarks. That does not mean every job will be cheaper than every competitor quote. It means you can compare the finished service, not just the advertised starting number.
How to Get the Most Accurate Junk Removal Quote
You do not need to measure your junk in cubic yards before calling us. A few useful details usually tell us much more.
Send us:
- ✓ A photo or short video of the junk
- ✓ A rough idea of how much there is
- ✓ Where it is located — driveway, basement, upstairs, attic, etc.
- ✓ Any unusually heavy or specialty items
- ✓ Information about stairs, narrow access, or a long carry
From that, we can often provide an initial pricing range by phone, text, or online request. For larger garage, basement, estate, or difficult-access cleanouts, a free on-site estimate is usually the better option. The crew can see the actual volume and access conditions, then give you the final price before the job begins.
There is no estimate fee and no obligation to proceed. The good news is that you do not have to guess. Send a few photos, tell us where the junk is, and we can start from there.
